Class Hours: Tuesday
12:00-15:00, Room Ι1. Past Courses: Spring 2012, Fall 2012, Fall 2013 Grades: The grade for the course will be
determined by the assignments (75%) and the project (25%). There will be
three assignments, each one accounting for 25% of the final grade. There will
be no final exam either on January or September exam period. You can improve
your grade in September by updating and improving the project. Announcements

Friday January 16. Extension. Since it is important
to think carefully about your project proposal you can turn it in within the
weekend.

Saturday January 10. Extension. The deadline for
Assignment 3 is extended for January 16, together with the first phase of the
project. There will be no more extensions for the Assignment, or the project.
·
Tuesday December 23. Assignment 3 and Project. The
third Assignment and the Project are now available on the Homework page.
·
Monday December 15. Extension. The deadline for
Assignment 2 is extended for December 18, 13:00.
·
Friday November 28. Assignment 2. The second
Assignment is now available on the Assignments page.
·
Wednesday November 19. Clarifications for Assignment 1b.
o For
Question 1, you can assume that r and c are given to you as part of the
input.
o For
Question 2, do not turn in output that is too large. It is better if you
increase the threshold. You can include your observations about the size of
the output in your report.
o For
Question 3, you can normalize the vectors as described in Question 4. Also,
you can compute the weighted average grade of the K most similar students
using the similarity to the original student. Explain your choices in your
report.
o In
general, all your choices and your observations should be clearly described
in your report.

Saturday November 14. File with course names for the last
assignment. I did not manage to make the txt file display Greek
characters, so here is an excel file
with the course names.

Wednesday November 12. Extra class.
Tomorrow, Thursday November 13, there will be an extra class at 5:00-8:00 pm.

Sunday November 9: Assignment 1, part 2: The
second part of Assignment 1 is now available on the Assignments page.

Friday October 24: Next week’s lecture: Next
week’s lecture will be on Thursday 30/10, 5:00-8:00 pm. The first part of
Assignment 1 should be handed at the beginning of the lecture.
