SmAS Project Status

Currently the SmAS project is in an active development phase. Research and development of the SmAS project is focused on the underlying operating system. Althought Linux is quite robust, the purpose of the project is having a minimal operating system and Linux kernel is too large and heavy to be considered minimal.

Thus our development interest is to implement a system providing as less functionality as possible to suite our needs. For this purpose the GNU/HURD kernel is considered to be used. This choise was made partly due to the extensibility of the kernel and it's odject-oriented structure, alongside other reasons which are best explained in SmAS Operating System
